AUSTIN, TEXAS - A class of four former female University of Texas All-Americans and one distinguished current coach will be inducted as members of the third class of the UT Women's Athletics Hall of Honor when the University holds its annual Hall of Honor luncheon and ceremony on Friday, November 8.
The five inductees were nominated in the spring of 2002, and selection was conducted by the 21-member UT Women's Athletics Hall of Honor Selection Committee. The Women's Hall of Honor began a two years ago as part of a celebration of 25 years of women's athletics at The University of Texas.
The five inductees are:
** Michiko Hattori, a four-year Longhorns' All-America golf standout from 1987-91 and two-time National Collegiate Golfer of the Year who currently stars overseas on the Japan LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour ... As a sophomore in 1988-89, Hattori was the National Golf Coaches Association and GolfWeek National Player of the Year, and then earned that same honor one year later as the Honda Broderick National Player of the Year Award in 1989-90
**Andrea Lloyd-Curry, a 1988 U.S. Olympic gold medalist and three-year All-American forward playing from 19833-87 who starred on UT basketball's undefeated (34-0) 1985-86 squad which won the NCAA National Championship ... Lloyd-Curry retired from professional basketball in 2002, after a stellar career in Europe and in the United States as a player in the now-defunct ABL (for the Columbus Quest, 1996-98) and the WNBA (for the Minnesota Lynx (1999-2000) ... In the UT record book, Andrea stands second in three career categories -- rebounds (1,115), steals (3340) and rebound average (8.8 rpg) ... She also ranks ninth in career assists (340, 2.7 apg), 10th in career scoring and career scoring average (1,596, 12.6 ppg) ...
**Jeff Moore, who is the current UT women's tennis coach and will enter his 21st season this fall at UT and his 26th season overall as collegiate tennis coach ... During his tenure, he has led his Longhorn charges to two NCAA titles (1993 and 1995) and to 32 conference regular season and tournament championships ... Since his arrival in 1982, his Longhorns have qualified for the NCAA National Championship every year ... His UT tennis squads have 12 top-ten NCAA finishes, including five top-three finishes, 17 regular season conference crowns (11 Southwest Conference, six Big 12 Conference) and 15 conference tournament titles (nine SWC and six Big 12)
**Sally Schlobohm, a two-year All-American volleyball setter (1980-81) who led Texas to the 1981 Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) National Championship with a sterling 60-6-1 mark as the Broderick Award National Player of the Year and a consensus First Team All-American ... Sally transferred to UT in 1980 from Kellogg Community College (Mich.) as she followed her Kellogg CC coach -- Mick Haley -- to Austin to begin the strong Longhorn volleyball tradition
**Annette Smith-Knight, a four-year basketball standout (1981-84, 1985-86) and a 1983-84 All-American, a two-time Southwest Conference Player of the Year and a star on the 1986 NCAA title team who still ranks as the Longhorns' No. 1 career scorer with 2,523 points ... During her stellar Longhorn career, the UT squad had four impressive finishes, winning the national championship while finishing as the 1982 AIAW National Championship runnerup and advancing to two FInal Eights, in 1983 and 1984.
The November 8th Hall of Honor enshrinement ceremony and luncheon will take place at the Frank Erwin Center on the UT campus, and further details, including ticket availability for the general public, will be announced at a later date.
Both the UT Women's Hall of Honor and UT Men's Longhorn Hall of Honor will hold their induction ceremonies the weekend of Friday-Sunday, November 8-10. Ceremonies will be held in conjunction with the Texas-Baylor football game (Nov. 9).
"This is another outstanding class of honorees, as distinguished as our first two classes," noted Chris Plonsky, UT Senior Associate Director of Men's and Women's Athletics and a member of the Hall of Honor selection committee. "The four former student-athletes brought tremendous national recognition to The University during their playing and coaching days, and our current tennis coach Jeff Moore continues to lead one of the best all-around tennis programs in the nation. Each one has gone on and contributed greatly in their professional lives. Once again, we anticipate another spectacular event in November when we hold our induction luncheon."

Michiko had three top 10 individual finishes at the NCAAs, all as UT's top individual, as she placed second in 1990 as a junior, tied for sixth as a senior and tied for seventh as a freshman ... No other golfer in UT history has earned three top 10 finishes at the NCAAs ... Hattori was the Southwest Conference Player of the Year all four years, leading Texas to four straight league titles, and was selected the Southwest Conference Golfer of the Decade ... **Sally Schlobohm, a two-year All-American volleyball setter (1980-81) who led Texas to the 1981 Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) National Championship as the National Player of the Year ... Sally transferred to UT in 1980 from Kellogg Community College (Mich.) as she followed her Kellogg CC coach -- Mick Haley -- to Austin to begin the strong Longhorn volleyball tradition ... At Kellogg CC, she led the squad to a pair of National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Championships in 1978 and 1979 ... In 1979, she was selected the NJCAA National Volleyball Player of the Year ... Sally continued her standout play at Texas where she led the Longhorns to a two-year mark of 100-22-1 and to a winning percentage of 82 percent ... This stellar two-year performance saw Schlobohm led Texas to a 40-16 mark in 1980 and to a fourth-place finish at the AIAW regional tournament ... Her Longhorn career was capped off by UT's 1981 AIAW National Championship, as Scholbohm captained the squad which went an incredible 60-6-1 en route to the national crown ... For her efforts, Schlobohm won the Broderick Award (now known as the Honda Broderick Award) as the National Player of the Year and was a consensus First Team All-America setter ... To this day, Sally remains the only Longhorn volleyball player to have won the prestigious Broderick Award.
**Annette Smith-Knight, a four-year basketball standout (1981-84, 1985-86) and a 1983-84 All-American, a two-time Southwest Conference Player of the Year and a star on the 1986 NCAA title team who still ranks as the Longhorns' No. 1 career scorer with 2,523 points ... During her stellar Longhorn career, the UT squad had four impressive finishes, winning the national championship while finishing as the 1982 AIAW National Championship runnerup and advancing to two FInal Eights, in 1983 and 1984 ... A knee injury forced her to miss her "true" senior season -- in 1984-85, and she then returned strong from reconstructive surgery to post 9.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game as a full-time starter for the 1986 NCAA championship Longhorns ... UT's record during her four years on the court was a stunning 131-10, a 93 percent winning percentage ... As a junior, Annette claimed First Team All-America honors from Kodak and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, and was a finalist for the Margaret Wade Trophy National Player of the Year ... She was chosen the Southwest Conference Player of the Year twice, as a sophomore and junior (1982-83, 1983-84) and was the 1983 SWC Tournament MVP ... In the Texas career record books, Smith ranks first in scoring, first in field goals made (1,052), second in scoring average (19.3 ppg) and free throws made (419), fourth in rebounding (966) and eighth in games played (131) ... She continues to hold the school record for most consecutive games in double-figure scoring with 33 ... Outside of her UT playing days, Annette won a gold medal with USA Basketball, starring on the gold-medalist 1983 World University Games Team.
