Louisville Slugger and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association have announced Freshman All-America Teams with four Big 12 baseball student-athletes gracing the lists.
West Virginia’s Kyle Davis appears on both teams, earning first team recognition from the NCBWA. Davis is joined on the Louisville Slugger Team, selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper, by teammate B.J. Myers and TCU’s Evan Skoug and Connor Wanhanen.
Davis hit .353 on the season, which currently ranks third in the league. He also recorded 17 doubles, one triple, four home runs and 31 RBI in his rookie campaign with the Mountaineers. Myers, a right-hander, had a 3.82 ERA with 60 strikeouts over 63.2 innings pitched.
Skoug is among Big 12 leaders in hits, home runs and RBI. The freshman catcher has also started all contests for the Big 12 champion Frogs this season. Wanhanen, the Conference’s Freshman of the Year, was also named to the All-Big 12 First Team this season. He finished the conference season ranked fifth in the league in batting average and third in on-base percentage.
The Big 12 has totaled 80 Louisville Slugger All-America selections all-time and 15 NCBWA honorees.
