Sooners Tabbed as Preseason Favorite

For the fourth straight year, Oklahoma has been selected as the unanimous favorite in the 2020 Big 12 softball preseason poll in a vote by the league’s head coaches. This marks the eighth consecutive year and the 11th occurrence in the last 12 years the Sooners have collected the honor.

Texas came in second with 29 points, followed by Oklahoma State in third with 27 points and one first place vote. All three squads made it to the Super Regionals of the NCAA Championship last season.

The poll is rounded out with No. 4 Texas Tech (20), No. 5 Baylor (15), No. 6 Iowa State (13) and No. 7 Kansas (7). Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team.

The 2020 Big 12 softball season gets underway on Thursday, February 6 with three teams competing in a combined four games.
