Twenty-three players from Big 12 schools are potentially slated to be on 2021 Major League Baseball rosters for Opening Day on Thursday. Official rosters for clubs will be formally announced leading up to game day.
All nine Big 12 squads have one player on a major league roster. In total, the Conference is represented on 20 MLB rosters. TCU and Texas pace the way with five players each, followed by four from Oklahoma, three from Oklahoma State and two from West Virginia. Baylor, Kansas, K-State and Texas Tech each have one athlete on an MLB team.
Baylor’s Max Muncy returns to the Los Angeles Dodgers after winning the 2020 World Series. West Virginia pitcher John Means will get the nod as the Opening Day starter for the Baltimore Orioles.
All 30 MLB teams open the season on Thursday, April 1.
