IRVING, Texas - Jordan Lewis (Baylor) was voted Big 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and Kelbie Washington (Oklahoma) was selected as the Conference’s Freshman of the Week by a five-person media panel.
Lewis had a triple-double against West Virginia, the seventh in Baylor history and the first in a Big 12 game since 2017. The Windermere, Florida native had 10 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists in the Bears' 87-54 win at West Virginia, adding in two blocks. Per HerHoopStats, she is only the second player to have at least 10 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists in a Big 12 Conference game, joining Shalee Lehning (Kansas State, 2009). In Baylor’s 88-80 road win at Texas Tech, Lewis had 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting. For the week, she averaged 13.0 points, 6.5 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks. It is Lewis’ first career player of the week selection.
Washington was named Big 12 Freshman of the Week for the second time this season, averaging 8.0 points, 4.5 assists, 3.5 steals and 2.0 rebounds in two OU victories. The Norman, Oklahoma native was one of three players to score in double-digits in the win 65-63 win over then-No. 9 Texas Saturday, going 3-of-5 from the floor and picking up three steals. She had six points, seven assists and three steals in OU’s 84-58 win over Oklahoma State last Wednesday.
