Sooners Sweep Season’s First Softball Honors

Oklahoma’s Tiare Jennings (Player) and Jordy Bahl (Pitcher) earned the first Big 12 softball weekly awards of the 2022 season. Bahl and Jennings helped OU to a 5-0 start, including a 4-1 victory over No. 3 UCLA.

Jennings picked up where she left off in 2021, hitting four home runs over five games with seven RBIs, nine runs, five walks and two stolen bases on two attempts throughout the weekend. The sophomore hit .357 with a .526 on-base percentage and a 1.214 slugging percentage while striking out just once in 14 at-bats. The 2021 Big 12 Freshman of the Year won Big 12 Player of the Week four times a year ago.

Bahl was remarkable in her debut, striking out a combined 24 batters in three appearances (12.2 innings pitched) and collecting two wins. The freshman threw a complete game and struck out 14 Bruins to take down the third-ranked team in the country. The native of Papillion, Nebraska finished the weekend giving up zero earned runs (0.00 ERA) and allowing just three walks. Bahl was named the Wilson/NFCA D1 Pitcher of the Week.
