Oklahoma swept the Big 12’s weekly softball awards after a 4-0 week in which the Sooners set the record for the best start in Division 1 softball history at 36-0, breaking the previous mark held by 2017 Oregon and 1999 UCLA (35-0). Grace Lyons was named Player of the Week while Nicole May secured Pitcher of the Week as both players capture weekly Big 12 honors for the first time this season.

Lyons batted .600 with four home runs, five RBIs, nine runs scored and a pair of walks with no strikeouts. The senior hit a homer in all three of OU’s games against Texas Tech including a pair in game one. The Peoria, Arizona native surpassed her single-season career-high in home runs (14, 2021) with 17 already this season. The 2021 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year helped OU turn two double plays over the weekend and earns her first career Big 12 weekly accolade.

May had two wins in the circle this week that included an individual shutout and a combined no-hitter. The sophomore struck out eight on the week and allowed just three hits with three walks in 7.1 innings pitched against Tulsa and Texas Tech. Opponents batted just .130 against the native of Pleasanton, California as she collects the second Big 12 Pitcher of the Week recognition of her career.
