Nine Big 12 Players Named Semifinalists for William V. Campbell Trophy®

Nine players from the Big 12 were selected as semifinalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy®, college football’s premier scholar-athlete award. The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced the list of 156 semifinalists who boast an impressive 3.62 average GPA, with more than half having already earned their bachelor’s degree.

Celebrating its 33rd year, the Campbell Trophy® recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.

The Big 12 leads the Autonomy 5 conferences with a semifinalist from 90% of its teams.

Iowa State’s Charlie Kolar was named the 32nd recipient of the 2021 William V. Campbell Trophy® last year at the 63rd NFF Annual Awards Dinner. He is the Big 12’s fifth winner since 2000.
