Big 12 Selects Softball Player & Pitcher Of The Week

DALLAS-Oklahoma State pitcher Lauren Bay picked up both victories at No. 5 Nebraska last weekend and is the Big 12 Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season. Texas A&M shortstop Crystal Martin hit .818 in four games last week and is the Big 12 Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.

Bay picked up both of Oklahoma State's wins over No. 5 Nebraska in Lincoln over the weekend -- 2-1 and 3-2 in 12 innings. The Trail, B.C., Canada, lefty threw two complete games. Bay she posted double-digit strikeouts in both contests -- the 22nd time to accomplish the feat this year. In the 2-1 win she fanned 16 to mark the 10th time she has struck out 15 or more this season. Bay has 1049 career strikeouts and has given up just nine extra base hits this year.

Martin went 9-for-11 with four runs scored and eight runs batted in four games for the Aggies last week. The Arlington, Texas, senior hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning against Texas A&M-Corpus that put the game out of reach. Her double in the fifth inning against A&M-CC in the second game started a five-run rally that solidified the win for the team. Martin hit a two-run home run against Iowa State in the first game that put the Aggies ahead to stay. Martin was also the Big 12 Player of the Week March 25.
