Eighteen Big 12 soccer players from eight schools earned spots on the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Teams announced Thursday, Oct. 30. Ten of the honorees were named to the first team, from which they will contend for academic All-America awards as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Oklahoma State and Texas combined for eight student-athletes on the teams, while Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor and Iowa State each had two. In addition, Nebraska and Oklahoma all had one player recognized.
The 18 Big 12 honorees compiled an average grade-point average of 3.81, led by UT junior Emily Anderson, who boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA.
