Oklahoma State
With his first block of the game, Oklahoma State's Marcus Dove, the Big 12's Defensive Player of the Year, recorded his 100th career rejection, becoming just the seventh in school history to reach that milestone. He is just the fourth Cowboy to tally 100 blocks AND 100 steals in a career.

Freshman James Anderson established a career-high in rebounds with eight; he set his previous high, 7, three times, most recently on March 9th at Texas.

After being held scoreless in the opening 20 minutes, All-Big 12 Third-Team member Byron Eaton scored 12 in the second half, extending his streak of double-figure scoring games to eight. The Cowboys are 6-2 in their last eight games.

Sean Sutton defeated Pat Knight in their first meeting as head coaches; their fathers, Bob and Eddie meet 16 times with Eddie winning nine.

Texas Tech
By hitting five 3-point field goals, Alan Voskuil increased his season total to 67, to tie for the 8th-best single-season total in Texas Tech history.

Voskuil finished 5-for-8 on his 3-point attempts and scored 19 points. In the two conference meetings with Oklahoma State this season, he failed to connect on any of his four 3-point attempts and scored a combined 17 points.

The Red Raiders tied their season single-game high for 3-point field goals with eight; They previously hit eight at Texas A&M on 2/27/08 and vs Gonzaga on 11/23/07

Sophomore Trevor Cook scored 16 points, a season high and one off his career high, set while at Texas State, against Texas-Pan American on December 15, 2005.

Pat Knight lost his first Big 12 Championship game - among current Big 12 coaches, they sport a combined 4-5 record in their first Conference Championship game. No current coach has won the Conference title in his first year at the helm. Colorado's Jeff Bzdelik, Texas A&M's Mark Turgeon and Kansas State's Frank Martin will also make their Championship debut this week.

Big 12 Championship Notes
After allowing Oklahoma State to score the first six points of the contest, Texas Tech answered with 14 unanswered. The Cowboys went scoreless for 5:34, missing nine consecutive shots and committing four turnovers. Oklahoma State responded with an 8-0 run covering 2:13, only to see Texas Tech score five straight in the next 59 seconds.

With the Cowboys' win, the No. 9 seed defeated the No. 8 seed for the second straight year and improved 5-7 all-time against the No. 8 seed. No ninth seed has ever advanced to the semifinals (0-4 in quarterfinals)

Oklahoma State improved to 6-0 in first-round; the Cowboys are one of thee schools (Kansas and Oklahoma) to have played on Friday in all 12 tournaments. Kansas and Oklahoma have byes this year to make this list.
