Oklahoma State and Texas A&M Selected to NCAA Soccer Championship

Oklahoma State and Texas A&M will represent the Big 12 in the 64-team NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship, the NCAA has announced.

Oklahoma State (15-7-0) captured the Big 12 postseason championship last weekend for an automatic NCAA bid. The Cowgirls earned their fourth straight NCAA berth, fifth overall, and will face Southern California in Santa Clara, Calif.

OSU has won eight-straight matches, while outscoring their opponents 17-3. The Cowgirls lead the Big 12 with a school-record 13 shutouts. Freshman goalkeeper Adrianna Franch leads the league in and shutouts (10), goals against average (0.63) and save percentage (.837).

Texas A&M (14-6-2) will play Memphis in the first round in Baton Rouge, La. The Aggies have received a NCAA selection for the 15th consecutive year, holding a 21-14-1 overall record in the NCAA Championship. In 2008, A&M advanced into the quarterfinals before falling short to North Carolina.

The Aggies rank second in the conference in shutouts (10) and assists (42) while also third in points (6.09). No. 20 Texas A&M has been ranked by the NSCAA every week of competition this season.


First-round action begins Friday, Nov. 13 and second rounds will be played Sunday, Nov. 15.
