About the Championship
The 2015 Big 12 Soccer Championship took place on Nov. 4, 6 and 8 at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City. It marked the third season that the event was held in Kansas City. The top eight teams based on conference results determined by a point system qualify for the Big 12 Championship. A squad gets three points for each conference win and one point for each conference tie.
The 2015 campaign marked the 17th year that eight schools participated in the league championship. For the first three years a six-team field was utilized for the postseason event. The winner of the Big 12 Championship receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
Baylor, Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas Tech and West Virginia are the current Big 12 members to have captured the conference postseason championship. This past season, Texas Tech earned its first postseason crown. In 2014, the Mountaineers claimed the school's second consecutive Big 12 postseason title. Oklahoma State has won three (2003, '09, '10) times while Texas notched consecutive championships in 2006 and 2007.
