Niang, Hield Named To All-America Teams

The Big 12 is well-represented on both the Associated Press and SI.com Preseason All-America Teams, with two of the five first team members coming from the conference. Seniors Georges Niang (Iowa State) and Buddy Hield (Oklahoma) were members of the squads, giving the Big 12 more first team representatives than any conference in the nation.

Niang, earned a spot after averaging 15.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists last season. He was one of just two players in the nation 6-8 or taller to average at least 15.0 points and 3.0 assists in 2014-15. He enters his final campaign with 1,510 career points, which is fifth among active Division I players. He is the only player nationally with 1,500 points, 450 rebounds and 300 assists.

Hield led the Big 12 in scoring a year ago with 17.4 points per game, increasing that to a league-best average of 18.5 points in conference play. He earned Associated Press All-America Third Team accolades and has started every game the last two years, ranking 15th at OU with 1,366 career points.
