The Palm Beach County Sports Commission has announced TCU’s Jaden Oberkrom as a semifinalist for the 2015 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, presented by the Orange Bowl.
Oberkrom is a Lou Groza Award semifinalist for the third time (2012, 2014 and 2015). He is TCU’s career leader in field goals with 70, a total that tops all active players nationally. He is just five shy of tying the Big 12 mark of 75 field goals held by Oklahoma’s Michael Hunnicutt (2011-14).
Oberkrom is 12-of-15 on attempts this season. He equaled a TCU record with a 57-yard kick last week versus West Virginia. He is 7-of-7 on attempts of at least 40 yards, including 3-of-3 from 50 yards or more. He ranks second in Big 12 history with his 73.7 percentage (28-of-38) on attempts of at least 40 yards.
A senior from Arlington, Texas, Oberkrom has four of the six-longest field goals in TCU history. He is the Horned Frogs’ career leader in points with 411. He has made all 46 of his PATs this season and is 201-of-202 in his career.
The three finalists for the Lou Groza will be unveiled on November 23, 2015, and the winner will be announced as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on December 10, 2015.
