Ray Guy and Groza Watch Lists Announced

The Big 12 Conference placed four players on the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award watch list as well as one on the Ray Guy Award watch list for the 2015 season. The Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award is presented annually to the nation’s top place-kicker and the Ray Guy Award to the country’s top punter.

Highlighting the Big 12 nominees for the Groza Award is Josh Lambert (West Virginia), who was a finalist for the award in 2014 after becoming just the third kicker in FBS history to make 30 field goals in a season. Also returning to the list is two-time semifinalist Jaden Oberkrom (TCU) and 2014 semifinalist Ben Grogan (Oklahoma State). Making his first appearance is Matthew McCrane (Kansas State), who hit on 94.7% of his field goal attempts last season (18 of 19).

Oberkrom and Grogan made 22 field goals each en route to their semifinalist appearances in 2014, and McCrane was one of just five FBS kickers to attempt 10 or more field goals and make over 90% of them last season.

Texas Tech punter Taylor Symmank was nominated to the Ray Guy Award watch list for the second consecutive season after averaging 42.6 yards per kick last year. Symmank also landed 17 punts inside of the 20-yard line during his 2014 campaign.

Semifinalists for the Lou Groza Award will be announced November 5, 2015, by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, and the Augusta Sports Council will select 10 semifinalists for the Ray Guy Award by November 13, 2015. The two awards will then unveil their three finalists on November 23, 2015 and the winners will be announced as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on December 10, 2015.
