Box and Schafer Take Weekly Honors

Northern Colorado’s Timmy Box (141 pounds) and Oklahoma State’s Austin Schafer (285 pounds) earn Big 12 Co-Wrestler of the Week honors for the fourth week of the season. This marks the first weekly award for both athletes.

  • Took third place finish at the Cowboy Open and a second place finish at the Northern Colorado Open.
  • Defeated No. 13 Gabe Moreno from Iowa State in a 13-2 major decision.
  • Has earned a 11-2 record so far in the 2016-17 season.


Austin Schafer, Oklahoma State, Sr., Edmond, Okla.

  • Upset No. 5 Michael Kroells for the first ranked win of his career with a thrilling 3-2 decision that was decided in the final 30 seconds.
  • Had the biggest highlight of the Cowboys’ 34-3 win over No. 16 Minnesota.
  • The match win bumps his record on the season to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in duals.
