Yazmeen Ryan (TCU), Nicole Curry (Texas) and Madison White (Texas Tech) each received honors in the latest installment of the Big 12’s weekly soccer awards.
 
Ryan was named Offensive Player of the Week after topping the Conference with six points this past weekend, all coming off her three goals in two games. The junior midfielder has scored each of TCU’s last five goals, helping the Horned Frogs to a 2-0 shutout over Oklahoma and 1-1 tie with No. 18 Oklahoma State. Ryan leads TCU with 19 points, tying her for third in the Conference, and has already set a career high with seven goals.
 
Curry locked things down in goal for Texas on her way to being named Defensive Player of the Week, posting two shutouts in the Longhorns’ opening two matches of Conference play. The junior keeper tallied six combined saves in a pair of 1-0 victories over Kansas and K-State, making Texas the only 2-0 team after the first weekend of Conference matches.
 
White is the Freshman of the Week for the second-consecutive week. The goalkeeper made her first-career start against No. 18 Oklahoma State and shut out the Cowgirls with three saves. The rookie keeper also made a pair of stops in a double overtime tie with Oklahoma, playing all 110 minutes, a career high.
 
This is Curry’s fourth-career weekly award, all coming as Defensive Player of the Week. White earns the second honor of her career and second in as many weeks as Freshman of the Week, becoming the only two-time winner so far in 2019. Meanwhile, Ryan is a first-time honoree.
 
Through six weeks of play, six different schools have been represented with an Offensive Player of the Week and six different schools have had a Defensive Player of the Week. Texas Tech and TCU have each earned multiple Freshman of the Week honors. TCU leads all Big 12 programs with four weekly awards in 2019.
