Texas’ Skylar Fields (Offensive and Rookie) and Kansas State’s Dru Kuck (Defensive) have been named the Big 12 volleyball players of the week for week eight. Fields is earning her third rookie of the week honor, but first offensive, while Kuck garners her first career player of the week award.

Fields finished the eighth week of the season with the second-best hitting percentage in the league at .522 for players who averaged 3.00 attempts per set. The freshman accomplished the task with the second-best kills per set (4.33), while also ranking second in the Big 12 in blocks per set (2.67), helping the No. 4 Longhorns to a sweep at West Virginia. Fields is the only player in the league to rank in the top-3 in hitting percentage, kills per set, and points per set.

Kuck tallied a career-high 36 digs against Oklahoma in a five-set loss, setting the Big 12 record for most in a single match this season. Her 36 digs were a part of the 119 combined total for the Wildcats, setting a program record for digs in a match. The freshman’s performance tied for the third-most in a match in K-State history during the rally-scoring era and marked the first 30-dig output by a Kansas State players since 2015.
