Grace Yochum of Oklahoma State and Sarah Peters of Kansas were named Big 12 Soccer Players of the Week after their performances in week nine of the 2019 season.
Yochum was named Offensive Player of the Week after she tallied four goals on the weekend, leading the Conference with eight points. She extended her streak to four consecutive matches with a goal, scoring the game-winner in a 2-1 victory over West Virginia and netting a hat trick in the Cowgirls’ 3-0 win at Iowa State. The hat trick was Yochum’s third multi-goal performance of the season and brought her team-leading goal total to 11 in 2019. The sophomore midfielder has now been named Offensive Player of the Week twice this year, giving her three career weekly awards.
Peters earned Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second-consecutive week after she racked up seven saves in the Jayhawks’ 3-0 shutout win over K-State. The clean sheet was her third-straight, as Kansas has kept its opponents scoreless for over 318 consecutive minutes and counting. The sophomore goalkeeper collects her third career weekly soccer honor, as she now leads the Conference with seven shutouts.
Oklahoma State and Kansas have now each received four weekly awards this season.
