Texas Tech's Brooks Tabbed National Defensive Player of the Week

Texas Tech linebacker Jordyn Brooks earned National Defensive Player of the Week honors from the Football Writers Association of America and the Walter Camp Football Foundation after his performance in the Red Raiders' win over No. 21 Oklahoma State.

Brooks recorded 19 tackles (8 solo), including 4.5 for losses, three quarterback sacks and forced one fumble as Texas Tech defeated the Cowboys, 45-35.  With the victory, the Red Raiders improved to 3-2, 1-1 in the Big 12.

He is the seventh Texas Tech player to earn Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors since 2004, and the first since quarterback Alan Bowman (Sept. 16, 2018). He is the first Big 12 player to earn an honor from the WCFF this season.

Each Tuesday during the regular season, the FWAA has selected a Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week since 2001. Brooks will be added to the Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List. The FWAA and the Charlotte Touchdown Club will announce five finalists for the 2019 Bronko Nagurski Trophy on Wed., Nov. 20. The winner will be chosen from those five finalists who are part of the 2019 FWAA All-America Team.
