Sooners’ Offensive Line Up for National Honor

Oklahoma has been named as a finalist for the Joe Moore Award, given annually to college football’s most outstanding offensive line unit.

The reigning Joe Moore Award winning Sooners have helped this year’s team to a nation-leading 8.8 yards per offensive play, which is 1.0 yard more than second place Alabama at 7.8 yards per play. Oklahoma set the FBS single-season record last season, averaging 8.6 yards.

Oklahoma’s offense ranks first in the NCAA in total offense (581.1) as the line has helped protect Heisman Trophy candidate Jalen Hurts who leads the country in passing efficiency (209.1), points responsible for (260), points responsible for per game (26.0) and yards per pass attempt (12.3).

The voting committee for the award will announce its selection of finalists on Dec. 10 and the selection of the 2019 Joe Moore Award Winner will be made public after a surprise visit to the winning university’s campus in late December.
