Cyclone Freshman Tabbed Wrestler of the Week

Iowa State’s David Carr has been named the Big 12 Wrestler of the Week for Week 4. This is the first career award for the freshman as he also becomes the first Cyclone to garner a Conference award this season.

Carr’s lone dual of the weekend was a strong one as the freshman upset No. 2 Kaleb Young of Iowa. The 157-pound bout in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk series was an anticipated one as it featured a Junior World Champion and a NCAA All-American. Tied with 30 seconds remaining in the final stanza, Carr rattled off five unanswered points to pull off the 6-1 victory.
