Big 12 Wins Eight Matchups Over SEC in Women’s Challenge

The Big 12 Conference won the women’s basketball challenge over the Southeastern Conference with eight victories over a five-day span.
 
For the first time in the history of the event, a conference won eight of the 10 matchups. Three of the eight wins were against opponents ranked in the Top 25. 
 
On Wednesday, No. 7/6 Baylor collected a 72-38 win over Georgia while Texas Tech picked up an 84-48 win over Ole Miss. The wins by the Lady Bears and Lady Raiders were the largest margins of victory in the history of the Challenge. Iowa State picked up the third win with a 75-66 decision over Alabama.
 
On Saturday, the two leagues split the matchups. No. 23/24 Arkansas won 81-72 over K-State, while No. 12/13 Texas A&M beat Oklahoma State, 74-62. Oklahoma knocked off No. 25 LSU, 90-68, while TCU collected the 80-65 victory over Auburn.
 
The Big 12 swept Sunday’s three matchups as Texas edged No. 17/19 Tennessee, 66-60, in Knoxville. West Virginia collected its first win over a top-10 non-conference opponent in program history, upsetting No. 10/8 Mississippi State, 71-65. Kansas overcame an early deficit to beat Florida 76-66 to close out the weekend.
