No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 9 Texas and No. 13 Oklahoma State are slated to begin Super Regional play on Thursday, May 23 after teams earned the advancing victories on their home fields over the weekend. This is the first time since 2012 that a trio of Big 12 teams have advanced to Super Regionals.
The teams owned a combined 10-2 record during the Regional rounds. OU, UT and OSU will play a best-of-three series. The Sooners will host No. 16 Northwestern while the Longhorns and Cowgirls will travel to No. 8 Alabama and No. 4 Florida State, respectively.
OU beat the Wisconsin Badgers, 2-0, in a winner-take-all match for the Norman Regional Title. The Sooners are making their 10th straight Super Regional appearance and seeking their 13th WCWS appearance in this millennium.
UT advances to its first Super Regional since 2013 after defeating Houston twice on Sunday. Pitcher Miranda Elish led the Longhorns to victory after throwing 429 pitches over two days for four complete games.
OSU defeated Tulsa twice in two days to clinch its first super-regional berth since 2011 after going 3-0 during Regional play.
From the Super Regionals, eight teams will advance to the WCWS for a double-elimination tournament, with the final consisting of a best-of-three series. The event will be conducted on May 30-June 5 at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
In the National Invitational Softball Championship (NISC), Iowa State clinched the Ames Regional after taking down Purdue 5-3. The Cyclones will travel to Fort Collins, Colorado for the NISC Championship round May 24-26 and will face Loyola Marymount on Friday at 2 p.m. CT.
