For the first time this season, two goalkeepers were named as winners of the Big 12’s weekly soccer awards. Jennifer Wandt (Baylor) and Madison White (Texas Tech) join midfielder Grace Yochum (Oklahoma State) as this week’s honorees.
 
Yochum received Offensive Player of the Week honors after leading the league with six points over the weekend. The sophomore scored three goals on just four shots, including a brace in OSU’s 3-0 win over Kennesaw State and one goal in the Cowgirls’ 2-2 tie with SMU. The offensive outburst pushed Yochum into a tie for eighth place on the Big 12 leaderboard with five goals scored this year. This is Yochum’s second-career weekly award, after previously being named Freshman of the Week in 2018.
 
Wandt led the Conference with 10 saves in two weekend games en route to earning Defensive Player of the Week accolades. The junior keeper recorded eight saves against No. 2 USC, one shy of her career high, and tallied two saves against Gonzaga. After facing a total of 24 shots, Wandt’s efforts in goal helped the Bears to a 2-2 tie with the Trojans in double overtime and a 2-1 overtime win against the Bulldogs. Wandt is now a four-time honoree, having been named Defensive Player of the Week
twice in 2018 and Freshman of the Week once in 2017.
 
White garnered the title of Freshman of the Week after coming off the bench for the Red Raiders on the road at No. 22 South Florida after an injury to starting goalkeeper Marissa Zucchetto. The freshman took over in net and tallied seven saves in over 68 minutes of action to help Texas Tech secure a 2-1 upset victory over the Bulls, and as a result, earned her first-career weekly honor.
 
Oklahoma State picks up its third weekly award of 2019. The Cowgirls are the only school to have a winner in each of the three categories this season. Texas Tech has earned winners in back-to-back weeks, while Baylor collects its first recipient of 2019.
