Kansas State teammates Shelby Martin and Aliyah Carter joined Baylor’s Kara McGhee in garnering Big 12 volleyball weekly awards. McGhee picked up her fifth career award and third as Defensive Player of the Week. Martin earned her first Offensive Player of the Week while Carter was recognized as the top rookie for the first time.
 
In a five-set victory last Friday, Martin turned in K-State's first triple-double since the 2014 season with 11 kills, 10 digs and 38 assists. The senior setter's career-high kill total came on just 13 swings, as she hit .769. In Thursday's straight-set win over the Sooners, Martin handed out 39 assists (13 per set) in defeating OU for the first time since 2017.
 
Sophomore MB McGhee tallied 14 blocks (2.33 per set) in two matches at Iowa State, including a career-high 11 in Baylor’s sweep on Saturday. She was instrumental in helping the Bears to a season-high 13 rejections in Saturday's contest. McGhee is the first Bear since 2018 to collect at least 10 blocks in a single match, and her 11 is one shy of the BU record for a three-set match. McGhee’s 23 points over the weekend was second on the team, just 2.5 behind the leader.
 
Carter tallied a match-high 17 kills (5.67 per set) in a three-set win over OU last Thursday. She turned in 17 more kills during a five-set victory on Friday night and added a career-high six blocks. For the week, Carter averaged 4.25 kills per set while tallying seven total blocks. K-State swept the season series with the Sooners for the first time since 2017.
