Joseph Ossai was named the Walter Camp and Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week after helping Texas upset No. 6 Oklahoma State 41-34 in overtime. He recorded 12 tackles (7 solo) and three quarterback sacks, while recovering two fumbles and forcing one. With the win, Texas improved to 4-2 on the season.

The junior linebacker is the 10th Longhorn to earn Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors since 2004, and the second this season as QB Sam Ehlinger picked up the offensive award on September 13.He is the fourth UT  player to win the Nagurski weekly award and first since 2014.
