Marquee performances from Baylor, TCU and Texas Tech soccer student-athletes were honored by the Big 12 in Week 9.
TCU’s Grace Collins was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Brandi Peterson collected Defensive Player of the Week. Texas Tech’s Madison White picked up Goalkeeper of the Week and Baylor’s Olivia Mack garnered Freshman of the Week.
By connecting on the lone goal of the night in TCU’s 1-0 win over West Virginia, Collins helped the Horned Frogs secure the 2020 Big 12 regular-season title. It marked her third-consecutive game-winning goal and pushed her career-high goal total to five.
Peterson led TCU by anchoring the backline that limited West Virginia to 12 shots and three on goal in the 1-0 shutout. The Horned Frogs did not allow a shot on goal in the second half and surrendered only two first-half corner kicks.
White made six stops in Texas Tech's home finale victory over rival Texas. The keeper deflected multiple shots to earn the clean sheet over the Longhorns.
Mack netted her first career goal in Baylor's 1-0 overtime win versus Oklahoma. It was the golden goal off a corner kick, the fourth goal off a set piece for the Bears. After her first shot attempt was saved, Mack gathered the rebound and finished in the lower left corner of the net.
Collins and Peterson each collected their second weekly honor of the season. White picked up her sixth overall and first goalkeeper award, while Mack notched her first freshman honor.
