Texas Tech baseball is the new No. 1 team in the country in two major polls as Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) each have the Red Raiders slotted in the top spot.
This is the fourth time in program history that Tech has been ranked No. 1. The Red Raiders are the first Big 12 team to reach the top spot since TCU in 2017.
Additionally, freshman catcher Nate Rombach has garnered national praise by D1Baseball, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and the NCBWA. After being named Big 12 Player of the Week thanks in part to a breakout weekend in which he hit five home runs and knocked in 15 runs, Rombach was honored as the first D1Baseball/AstroTurf National Player of the Week. CBN also named him as one of its 10 National Players of the Week, while the NCBWA selected him as its National Hitter of the Week.
The Red Raiders will return to the diamond this weekend as they take part in the Round Rock Classic with games against Tennessee, Stanford and Houston.
