Texas Sweeps Swimming and Diving Championship

The Texas men and women claimed team titles at the 2020 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship. The Longhorn men have won all 24 championships since the inception of the league, while the women earned their 18th.

The Texas men swept the competition by winning all 21 event finals for the first time since 2017. Daniel Krueger captured his second individual title of the meet in the 100-yard freestyle, while setting the Conference Championship record with a 41.26 time.

On the women’s side the Longhorns captured six titles on the final day, including the final event of the championship in the 400-yard freestyle relay to win all five relays.

The Texas men finished with a 1,127 team score. West Virginia followed with 873 points, while TCU finished third with 654 points. The Longhorn women tallied 1,012 points over four days. Kansas finished second (831), followed by TCU (534), Iowa State (459) and West Virginia (448).

Texas claimed Of the Meet honors for Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach, Men’s and Women’s Newcomer, Men’s and Women’s Swimmer, Women’s Diving Coach, Co-Men’s Diving Coach, Co-Women’s Diver and Men’s Diver. Kansas freshman Jiayu Chen earned Co-Women’s Diver, while West Virginia’s Michael Grapner earned Co-Men’s Diving Coach.
