OU, OSU and Texas Tech Garner Week 4 Awards
Oklahoma freshman Peyton Graham was tabbed Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week, while Oklahoma State lefty Parker Scott garnered Pitcher of the Week. Oklahoma State’s Justin Campbell and Texas Tech’s Cal Conley shared Newcomer of the Week accolades. A five-person panel of team radio broadcasters selects the honorees.
Graham hit .500 in five games (10-of-20) last week for the Sooners. The freshman scored the game-winning run on Sunday in the 10th inning of Oklahoma's series-clinching win over San Diego State. He scored six runs in the two wins over the weekend and doubled twice on Friday. Against Dallas Baptist on Tuesday, Graham went 2-for-2 with three walks, a double, RBI and two runs scored.
Scott pitched OSU to a win in its series opener vs. BYU. The junior southpaw racked up a career-high 13 strikeouts in seven innings, which also tied a career high. Over seven shutout frames, Scott allowed just two hits, both first-inning singles, and one walk, which also came in the first inning. Scott's 13 strikeouts were just three shy of OSU's single-game record.
A two-way threat for the Cowboys, Campbell had a career day on the mound in the series-clinching win over BYU. The freshman right-hander worked eight shutout innings and recorded nine strikeouts, both career highs, while allowing only three hits and not issuing a walk. Campbell also produced at the plate during OSU's four games last week, tallying three hits, including an RBI double, and drawing three walks in 11 at-bats.
Conley led the league with 11 hits for the week, while registering a .524 batting average in the Red Raiders’ wins over UNLV and Rice. He tied the league-lead for the week with 10 RBIs, while registering four doubles and a triple. His biggest game of the weekend was a 3-for-4 performance with five RBIs, a double and a triple in the 19-12 win over Rice on Saturday.
