TCU Athlete of the Year Nominees

2019-20 Big 12 Athlete of the Year candidates will be highlighted each weekday through May 22.

Fans will be able to vote for their male and female choices from May 22 until May 26 on Big12Sports.com. Fan voting will be considered in the final tally for selecting this prestigious award.

Today’s featured candidates are TCU’s Messiah Bright and Desmond Bane.

Accomplishments
^ 2019 All-Big 12 First Team performer.
^ 2019 United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region Second Team honoree.   
^ Named the Offensive Most Outstanding Player of the 2019 Big 12 Soccer Championship.  
^ Only the third athlete in soccer history to post a 30-point season and the first since the 2008 season.
^ The 12 goals scored were the third most in a single season for a Horned Frog.

Desmond Bane; Basketball
Sr.; Richmond, Ind.

Accomplishments
^ Collected All-Big 12 First Team honors from the league’s coaches and the Associated Press.
^ Garnered USBWA All-District VII and NABC All-District 8 recognition.
^ Was the only Big 12 player to rank in the top 10 in scoring (16.6, 2nd), rebounding (6.4, 10th) and assists (3.9, 7th).
^ Led the Big 12 with 2.9 3-pointers made per game and 44.2 percent from three and was fourth in shooting at 45.2 percent from the field.
^ Named Big 12 Player of the Week on March 2 after recording 23 points in a win over No. 2 Baylor.
