Big 12 quarterbacks Charlie Brewer (Baylor), Brock Purdy (Iowa State), Skylar Thompson (Kansas State) and Sam Ehlinger (Texas) have been named to the 30-player watch list for the Manning Award, presented by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
 
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates’ bowl performances in its balloting.
 
Inclusion on the watch list is not necessary for the quarterbacks to be selected for the honor. Additional quarterbacks may be added to the watch list during the season. Ten finalists will be selected and the winner will be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship.
 
The Big 12’s four selections are tied for the most among conferences. Five former Big 12 quarterbacks have won the award since 2006 with Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) being the latest in 2018.
