K-State’s Lee and UT’s Harmon Earn Big 12 Weekly Honors

Kansas State’s Ayoka Lee was named Big 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and Texas’ Rori Harmon earned Freshman of the Week honors for the first week of the regular season ending November 14, as selected by a five-person media panel.

Lee averaged 28.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game as she helped the Wildcats to a 3-0 start to the season. She set a school record with 43 points in the 103-40 season-opening win over Central Arkansas, outscoring the Sugar Bears by herself. Lee went 17-25 from the field, the fifth-most field goals made in Big 12 history, part of her 72.0% shooting for the week. The two-time All-Big 12 selection had her first double-double of the season Sunday against Western Kentucky, dropping 33 points and 13 rebounds on the Lady Toppers. In the Nov. 12 win against UT-Martin, Lee had 10 points and nine rebounds. Lee, who set a Big 12 record with 12 Freshman of the Week honors in 2020, earns her first Big 12 Player of the Week honor.

Harmon was the Longhorns’ leading scorer as they knocked off No. 3 and defending NCAA Champion Stanford 61-56. She scored 21 points with five rebounds against the Cardinal, including going four-for-four on free throws in the final minute to ice the game. The point guard had a team-high eight assists, plus seven points and four rebounds in Texas’ season-opening 131-36 win over New Orleans. In her first week of college basketball, Harmon is averaging 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists with a 9.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. It is the first weekly honor in Harmon’s career.
