UT’s Harmon Named National Freshman of the Week

Texas’ Rori Harmon was named the Tamika Catchings Women’s Freshman Player of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, the organization announced Tuesday. The award honors the top freshman in the nation for the voting period.
 
Harmon, who was additionally Big 12 Freshman of the Week, had 15 points off of 6-of-8 shooting in the Longhorns’ 70-53 win at Princeton. She added seven rebounds, three steals and two assists in the win, which helped her team improve to 9-1 on the season. Harmon ranks second among Division I freshman, and second among all Big 12 players, with 5.1 assists per game.
 
Harmon is the first Big 12 recipient of national freshman of the week honors from the USBWA since K-State’s Ayoka Lee, who was selected twice in the 2019-20 season. She is the first Texas freshman to earn the award since its inception in 2017-18.
