Denver’s Lynnzee Brown took home her first Big 12 Gymnast of the Week award of the season while Oklahoma’s Carly Woodard (Event Specialist) and Jordan Bowers (Newcomer) also secured weekly honors.

Brown had her strongest meet of the year, posting season highs on all four events and helping Denver defeat West Virginia 197.600-195.725. The 2021 Big 12 co-Gymnast of the Year captured three event titles including all-around (39.700), vault (9.925) and floor (9.975) while placing second and matching her career-high on beam (9.950). All four of the graduate student’s scores counted toward Denver’s final team mark which was the program’s second-highest away score and seventh-highest score overall. Brown has nine Big 12 Gymnast of the Week recognitions throughout her career and has 11 overall Big 12 weekly awards.

Woodard was instrumental in the Sooners’ (197.900) victory over Stanford (197.725), Utah State (196.350) and Arizona (193.775). The senior’s score on beam (9.925) helped OU to the highest beam score in the nation this season with a 49.575 on the event. On floor, the Overland Park, Kansas native tallied a 9.875 to help Oklahoma to a 49.425 on the event, its second-highest score of the season on floor. This is Woodard’s second Event Specialist of the Week award this year, and her sixth Big 12 weekly honor.

Bowers had her best meet of the season, winning four event titles including all-around (39.600), vault (9.975), bars (9.900), and floor (9.925). Her all-around, floor and vault scores matched career-highs. The native of Lincoln, Nebraska ranks in the top 25 on two events (bars and floor) and the all-around, and holds a top-10 ranking on bars. Bowers has earned a Big 12 weekly honor each week of the 2022 season (Newcomer – Jan. 11, Gymnast – Jan. 18, Newcomer – Jan. 25).

All three honorees will be in action this Sunday, January 30 at 4 p.m. CT/3 p.m. MT as No. 5 Denver travels to No. 3 Oklahoma. The meet will be televised live on ESPN.
