K-State’s Lee, OU’s Washington Claim Big 12 WBB Weekly Honors

Ayoka Lee (K-State) earned Big 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors and Kelbie Washington (Oklahoma) was the Conference’s Freshman of the Week for games ending Jan. 2, as selected by a five-person media panel.

Lee scored 32 points with 10 rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks in Kansas State’s 68-59 win over No. 10 Baylor, giving the Wildcats their first top-10 win since 2012. Lee had 28 second-half points, outscoring the Bears by herself (19-to-17) in the third quarter. It marked her third 30+ point, 10+ rebound game of the season. Lee was 11-of-16 (68.8) from the field and 10-of-13 (76.9) from the line as she picked up her league-leading third Player of the Week honor of the season.

Washington averaged 10.5 points, 10.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and a 3.0 assist-to-turnover ratio while helping the Sooners to a 2-0 record. She scored 10 points with seven assists in OU’s 97-91 win over Texas Tech in its Big 12 opener. Washington filled the stat sheet against Wichita State, scoring 11 points with 14 assists, six rebounds and five steals, becoming the first Division I freshman since 2009-10 to post those numbers. Her 14 assists marked an OU freshman record. This is Washington’s first selection as Freshman of the Week.
