KU, OU, TTU, and WVU Garner Weekly Honors

Kansas’ Lia Beyer (Defensive), Oklahoma’s Ellie Geoffroy (Freshman), Texas Tech’s Madison White (Goalkeeper) and West Virginia’s AJ Rodriguez (Offensive) took home Big 12 soccer weekly honors. This is the first honor this season for the quartet.

Rodriguez registered a brace in West Virginia’s 3-2 comeback win at Oklahoma. The Mountaineers fell behind 2-0 before she scored a goal toward the end of the first half. The junior followed up with a second goal in the 73rd minute. She is now the Mountaineers’ season-scoring leader with five goals.

Beyer scored the equalizer in the 1-1 draw against in-state rival Kansas State. The goal was the senior’s first. She helped the Kansas backline hold K-State to two shots on goal in the Dillons Sunflower Showdown. The defender has appeared in all 17 contests for the Jayhawks this season.

White earned Goalkeeper of the Week as she recorded her eighth shutout of the season in Texas Tech’s 2-0 win over Baylor. She registered one save in the match to extend Texas Tech’s winning streak to five-straight games. The senior leads the Conference in shutouts and has registered one in three of the last four contests for the Red Raiders.

Geoffroy’s goal in the 82nd minute last Thursday stunned No. 12 TCU and handed the Horned Frogs their first conference loss this season. The second-half goal was the defender’s first collegiate goal. The Oklahoma 2-1 win over TCU was the Sooners’ first top-25 win under Coach Mark Carr.

The final Big 12 Soccer Players of the Week of the 2022 season will be announced on Friday, October 28 at 4 p.m. CT.
