ROUND ROCK, Texas – After a two-goal effort from Sarah Melcher, No. 2-seed TCU advanced to the 2022 Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship semifinals after defeating No. 7-seed Kansas 5-1 on Sunday evening.
 
The Horned Frogs attacked early as freshman defender Sarah Melcher scored her first and second career goals in the ninth and 22^nd minutes of the match. TCU forward Kennedy Clountz scored on a penalty kick in the 27^th minute, marking the third consecutive game with a converted penalty in the Big 12 quarterfinals.
 
TCU’s Messiah Bright landed a goal in the 50^th minute to start off the second half before teammate Dana Reed scored her first goal of the season in the 87^th minute.
 
Kansas’ midfielder Rylan Childers scored her seventh goal of the season in the 89^th minute.
