K-State’s Gregory, Baylor’s Fontleroy Secure Big 12 WBB Weekly Honors

Kansas State’s Gabby Gregory (player) and Baylor’s Bella Fontleroy (freshman) were chosen by a five-person media panel for the season’s first Big 12 women’s basketball honors.

Gregory averaged 22.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists as she led the Wildcats to a pair of wins. She helped K-State erase a 13-point first-quarter deficit in a neutral site game against Wisconsin, scoring a game-high 25 points in the 77-63 win at American Family Field in Milwaukee. Gregory was 7-for-11 from the field to score 19 points in the Wildcats’ season-opener against Central Arkansas. Her 44 points are the most for a Kansas State newcomer in her first two games since 2001-02. It is Gregory’s first career weekly honor.

Fontleroy averaged 14.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and shot 61.1% from the floor as Baylor picked up wins against Lamar and Incarnate Word. She scored 17 points, making seven of her 10 field goal attempts, with eight rebounds in her Baylor debut, an 88-50 win over Lamar. In her first collegiate start against Incarnate Word, she added 11 points in a 71-42 victory, making her the first Big 12 freshman to post back-to-back double-digit scoring games this season. It marks Fontleroy’s first weekly honor.
