TCU Advances to Championship Match

ROUND ROCK, Texas – TCU senior Gracie Brian had a goal and an assist to lead No. 2-seed TCU over No. 6-seed Oklahoma 3-0 on Thursday evening during the semifinals of the 2022 Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship.

No. 2-seed TCU got its first goal in the sixth minute of the match as Brian kicked in a goal off a pass from teammate Peyton Crews. The Horned Frogs scored their second goal as Seven Castain converted a penalty kick in the 40th minute.

The Sooners had only one shot in the first half but flipped a switch in the second half as they had eight shot attempts. Oklahoma held TCU to four shots in the second half after allowing eight in the first.

TCU extended the lead when Brian found teammate Messiah Bright in the 53rd minute.

The reigning champions of the Big 12 Soccer Championship, the Horned Frogs advance to the championship match for the third-straight tournament.  They face the West Virginia Mountaineers for the first time in the championship match since 2016, where WVU won 3-2 in overtime. The match is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. CT. Live coverage will be on ESPNU.
