UT’s Gaston, BU’s Littlepage-Buggs Earn Big 12 WBB Weekly Honors

Texas’ DeYona Gaston (Player) and Baylor’s Darianna Littlepage-Buggs (Freshman) each posted double-doubles with efficient shooting from the floor to pick up Big 12 women’s basketball weekly honors for week 5.

Gaston had career-highs of 20 points and 16 rebounds, plus shot 50.0% from the field in the Longhorns’ 107-54 win over Alabama State. She is the first Big 12 player to have a 20+ point, 15+ rebound game this season, and the first Texas player to reach those plateaus since Charli Collier in 2020-21. It is Gaston’s first career Player of the Week honor, as she adds to a Freshman of the Week accolade from 2020-21.

Littlepage-Buggs had 11 points and 10 rebounds and made 50.0% of her field goal attempts as the Bears defeated UT Arlington 91-36. Littlepage-Buggs, who leads DI freshmen with 9.1 rebounds per game, posted her third double-double of the season in the game. It is the third time a Baylor player has been honored with Freshman of the Week this season, but the first honor for Littlepage-Buggs.
