OU’s Williams, TTU’s Maupin Honored With Big 12 WBB Weekly Awards

Oklahoma’s Madi Williams (player) and Texas Tech’s Bailey Maupin (freshman) were picked for Big 12 women’s basketball weekly honors for the eighth week of the season.

Williams had 22 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and two assists as the Sooners routed Florida 95-79 at the Jumpman Invitational. The game marked the 25th career double-double for the Fort Worth, Texas native. She found her tempo in the second half, scoring 16 of her 22 points after the break as Oklahoma pulled away. It is her fourth career Player of the Week selection, and her first this season.

Maupin averaged 11.0 points and shot 45.5% from the field as she helped the Lady Raiders to their ninth and 10th consecutive wins. She scored 11 points in 21 minutes in the 66-47 victory against McNeese State, adding a pair of steals on the defensive end. Making a start against UC Riverside, the Gruver, Texas native had her ninth double-digit scoring game in 12 tries, scoring 11 points. She made her only 3-point attempt in the game, and went 5-for-10 from the field in the 59-38 win over the Highlanders. It is her second Freshman of the Week honor, having previously been recognized on November 21, and the third for a Texas Tech player this season.
