Two Cowgirls received Big 12 weekly accolades as Miranda Elish was named Player of the Week and teammate Kelly Maxwell collected Co-Pitcher of the Week while Longhorn Pitcher Hailey Dolcini also earned Co-Pitcher honors.
Elish went 1.000 at the plate (8-8), highlighted by four home runs and 9 RBI to help OSU sweep Texas Tech in the conference opening series. Elish led the Big 12 in batting average, on-base percentage (1.000), homers, RBI, total bases (21) and slugging percentage (2.625). The two-way graduate senior also pitched five innings and picked up a win in the second game against the Red Raiders giving up just one run to help Oklahoma State to a 9-1 victory. This is the graduate transfer’s seventh Big 12 weekly honor.
Maxwell no-hit Texas Tech in the first game of the series (7-0). The no-hitter was the junior’s first of the season, the fourth of her career and the third from the OSU pitching staff in the Cowgirls’ last 12 games. The Friendswood, Texas native has thrown a no-hitter or perfect game at least once in each season of her collegiate career. She pushed her record to 11-0 on the season after two wins this weekend where she struck out 24 total batters while keeping her ERA at 0.00 and allowing just a pair of hits in 10 innings of work to secure her third Big 12 Pitcher of the Week award of her career.
Dolcini helped the Longhorns to an undefeated week going 4-0 on the mound with a 0.37 ERA and 34 strikeouts over 19 innings of work while holding opponents to a .066 batting average. The Ferndale, California native struck out 10 Jayhawks and surrendered one hit in 6.2 innings in a 9-2 win against Kansas and was named the Wilson/NFCA D1 Pitcher of the Week.
