A pair of seniors picked up the year’s final weekly Big 12 softball honors. Oklahoma’s Jocelyn Alo received Player of the Week while Texas’ Hailey Dolcini was named Pitcher of the Week.
Alo closed her final regular-season series in storybook fashion, hitting the go-ahead grand slam in the third game against Oklahoma State to help OU secure the Bedlam Sweep. The senior led Oklahoma to its 10
th straight Big 12 regular-season title with the series win, batting .444 during the weekend with one home run, six RBI and three runs scored. She drew a pair of walks and held a .545 on-base percentage and a .778 slugging clip, totaling seven bases. The 2021 Big 12 Player of the Year finishes her career with seven Big 12 Player of the Week selections.
Dolcini was dominant for the Longhorns in a series win over Baylor. The senior pitcher went 2-0 with a perfect 0.00 ERA and 12 strikeouts over 11 innings pitched while allowing just five total hits and limiting the Bears to a .135 batting average. The Ferndale, California native started the weekend throwing four shutout innings while starting the game and later returned to close out the game to help secure a 10-6 UT victory. The right-hander returned to the circle to start the series finale and fired a complete-game, three-hit shutout during a 6-0 series-clinching win over BU to collect her third Big 12 Pitcher of the Week nod this season.
