2021-22 Big 12 Athlete of the Year candidates will be highlighted each day at 10 a.m. CT and 2 p.m. CT listed in alphabetical order by school through Friday, July 22.

Iowa State Female Athlete of the Year Candidate
Ashley Joens; Basketball

Accomplishments
- First player to win Cheryl Miller Award in back-to-back seasons.
- NCAA’s active career scoring leader (2,369 points).
- Averaged 20.3 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
- Received All-America honors from the WBCA, Associated Press and USBWA.
- Earned unanimous All-Big 12 First Team honors for the third time in her career.
Iowa State Male Athlete of the Year Candidate
Breece Hall; Football
Jr., Wichita, Kan.
Accomplishments
- Consensus All-American, First-Team All-American (AP, AFCA, Walter Camp, Sporting News).
- Named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year for the second time, making him the fourth player in league history to achieve this honor.
- Selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the New York Jets.
- Finished his three-season career owning/sharing 11 schools records.
- Rushed for a touchdown in his final 24 games, breaking the NCAA all-time record for consecutive games with a rushing touchdown.
