Baylor’s Sarah Andrews (player) and Darianna Littlepage-Buggs (freshman) earned Big 12 Women’s Basketball Weekly Honors for their roles in the Bears’ pair of road victories over AP Top 25-ranked foes.
Andrews averaged 28.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists as she led the Bears to top-25 road wins in consecutive games for the first time in program history. Against No. 17 Oklahoma, she scored 30 points with four rebounds, three assists and no turnovers in the 81-70 victory. She followed up that performance with 27 points, four assists and three rebounds at No. 21 Kansas, making 10-of-16 field goals and 3-of-5 three-pointers. It is Andrews’ first career Big 12 weekly honor, and the first Player of the Week nod for the Green and Gold this season.
Littlepage-Buggs led Big 12 freshmen last week with 7.0 rebounds in the Bears’ road wins, to go along with 9.5 points. In Baylor’s 75-62 win at No. 21 Kansas, she had a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds, battling back after dealing with foul trouble at Oklahoma. For the week, she shot 64.3 percent from the field and added four steals. It is Littlepage-Buggs’ second Freshman of the Week honor, and the fourth for a Baylor rookie this season.
