An 83^rd-minute goal lifted Cincinnati over Baylor 3-2 in the first round of the 2023 Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship at the Round Rock Multipurpose Center in Round Rock, Texas.  
 
After facing a lightning delay during pregame, Cincinnati struck early as midfielder Fran Stables scored a goal in the 11^th minute. The two teams entered halftime only separated by one shot attempt with UC holding a 6-5 advantage.  

The Bearcats went up 2-0 in the 50^th minute when freshman Emma Gioffre kicked in her second goal of the season.  

Hannah Augustyn’s goal in the 69^th minute put Baylor on the scoreboard. The Bears weren’t done yet as Ashley Merrill scored the equalizer with a header off a corner kick from teammate Tyler Isgrig in the 83^rd minute. Isgrig was credited an assist in each goal scored by Baylor on Saturday.  

Less than a minute later, UC’s Kendall Battle scored the game-winning goal for the Bearcats. Baylor’s latest attack would happen in the 88^th minute but was deflected over the goal by Cincinnati’s goalkeeper Anna Rexford.  

No. 9-seeded Cincinnati will face the No. 1 seed Texas Tech on Monday at 2:00 p.m. CT/3 p.m. ET.
