Oklahoma Takes Rematch Over Oklahoma State 1-0

ROUND ROCK, Texas – In a rematch game of Monday’s Big 12 season finale, Oklahoma earned a 1-0 win over Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon during the first round of the 2023 Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Soccer Championship.

In a scoreless draw at the half, both teams were almost evenly matched with OSU leading in shots (6-5) and OU in saves (4-3). Both teams ended the contest with seven shots on goal.

OSU goalkeeper Grace Gordon disrupted multiple goal attempts from the Sooners, which included a straight shot from leading scorer Oklahoma’s Emma Hawkins in the 57th minute. Another big moment from the senior goalkeeper came in the 71st minute when she dove to the bottom center of the net to keep OU off the board. Gordon finished the match with five saves.

OU midfielder Esalenna Galekhutle scored the game-winner in the 76th minute, breaking through the Cowgirl defense for her third goal of the season.

With both schools ranking in the nation’s top 10 for corner kicks per game, the Sooners held the Cowgirls to three while registering 11 in the match.

OU goalkeeper Olivia Ramey recorded three saves in the second half during her third shutout of the year.

No. 10 Oklahoma will return to action against No. 2 BYU on Monday, Oct. 30 at 5:30 p.m. CT.
